SWE UC Irvine presents Industry Networking Night – January 23rd, 2014

SWE – UC Irvine is proud to announce it’s 9th successful Industry Networking Night (INN)! It is our most successful professional and fundraising event every year in which students have the opportunity to have a formal dinner with a representative from our company sponsors and engage in networking sessions with other representatives after the dinner. I am very proud of the the two ladies who planned this year’s INN and truly made it amazing – Shilpa Jagannath (Vice President and INN Co-Chair) and Chethana Nair (INN Co-Chair).

This year, we had a total of 19 company representatives from a list of 10 companies that include Altair, Beckman Coulter, ESRI, Masimo, Meggitt Defense Systems, Microsemi, Q Logic, Sears Holdings, Sendgrid, and Southern California Edison. We also had 131 student attendees and 7 faculty guests attend our event. We were also fortunate to have two guest speakers: our current SWE-UCI Counselor, Ankita Bordoloi, and Engineering Communications Professor, John Stupar.

Our chapter had also succeeded in completing our initial goals of inviting more students from the Information and Computer Science department, inviting members of SWE – UC Riverside and SWE – CSU Fullerton to promote outer-school relations, having more documentation of any INN planning or interaction with companies for future years, and having a more successful preparation the night before the event. We look forward to future successful Industry Networking Nights.

If you have any questions about our event, please feel free to contact Shilpa at swe.uci.vicepresident@gmail.com and Chethana at swe.uci.innchair@gmail.com .

  1. Sounds like a great turnout for the event! My section (Cal Poly SLO) has a similar event, but we’ve never invited other schools due to our geography. It’s great that you were able to give so many students the opportunity to network with company reps.
